Captain William "Billy" Mitchell throws the CF-18 Hornet around the cold and windy sky during Friday night's show. Big fan of the loaded roll reposition!
@JFDhater Yes, the things our government does to our military is embarrassing. For example having to borrow american hummers when we first sent soldiers to Afghanistan. Although, the military though small seems to be approaching self sufficiency. We just need attack helos! :P
@Ralroost Finally, we did get a Sea King replacement, only 8-10 yrs later, and only half the amount needed to replace the whole fleet. buying 28 instead of 52. Also the Ch-47D Chinook, we managed to acquire again, after giving back to the US our fleet in 1991. The C-141 project was overthrown at the last minute, because some fools in Ottawa never thought Canada would need Strategic Mobility. hmmm. we paid a penalty, and today we have 4 x C-17 Globemaster IIIs.
@Ralroost I agree. the gov't didn't ask for competing bids. It was Harper's idea that after investing milions of dollars into the JSF project, that that was the route they would be going, no matter what. Canada has an extended history of showing interest into something, making bids, purchasing, then pulling out half way through. The C-141, Ch-47, Sea King helicopter(twice), were all cancellations after agreements had been signed.
@JFDhater I would argue that the JAS 39, eurofighter and that new french fighter are better in certain aspects... yeah Canada needs new airplanes, but the worst part is that the government didn't even ask for competing bids.
@CrazeKillen maybe you should check into your research again.......Canada is buying 65 F-35s. But I do agree, the Eurofighter Typhoon is superior, except for the stealth characteristics...
Good Peace River , AB boy! We get free airshows when he passes through this way. With a name like Billy Mitchell, destined to be a good pilot.
