Steven Moffat's Coupling - UK vs US

This is a series of scenes from the first episodes of Coupling: Flushed (UK) vs The Right One (US).

Personally, I think the British cast fit their parts better and trump the American cast in the comic timing department. I like Colin Ferguson, but it was like he was in a mad rush to spit out his lines. He's a lot better in Eureka, and the lead bloke is a lot better in Better Off Ted.

Really.. the US version is pathetic. The acting is so sub-par, timing is off, the character's personalities are shallow and the delivery is atrocious. Glad I didn't waste my time watching it. I own the Brit version... nothing will EVER compare. You can't replace any of those characters. They made the entire show what it was.

The US version really just seems like a poor attempt to Americanise the jokes of the British version.

If they wanted to do a successful remake (and I'm not saying they should, mind you), they should've just taken the basic premise, which is universal, and put their own spin on it. For example, workplaces exist all over the planet. Same premise, different culture, different spin.

When you try to change a bunch of jokes to fit another culture, it doesn't work.It falls flat.

the uk version having watched the entire series I can tell you that that is funny the us version is just a cheap knock off the only british show that made it over here is the office

Comparing the two, the US version is more about comedic effect. It's not trying to clever when it comes right down to it... just going for what might "get the laughs" with a canned laughter audience. And the actors... trying a bit too hard for my taste. No immersion in the original UK version as to get the "flavor" of what it really is about.

If i had seen the US version first i would have probably liked it since they used most of the original script but the UK version has far better acting and actors who really fit the roles.
