You're still better off paying the landing fees at a regular airport I'd say.

Ah, first I've heard of them. Were they based at the airport? At the moment there's Atlantic Air and Blue Star Helicopters.

Thanks for your comments.....wow, you were young back then. Must have been a bit of excitement. I know there were very few light planes around back then. How things have changed.......seems like lots of farmers have helicopters now.

Nice piece of aviation history, thank you for assembling and posting it. Another world back then , so good that no one was hurt, and looks like a skillful piece of flying to land a 172 in that field!

Yep, a great conversation piece. We still talk about it today. I had a reunion with my copilot last year in Las Vegas. Hadn't seen him for 38, yes 38 years......

Great video! Fair play to you for bringing it into such a short field when Irish weather is as it is! I'm training on the 172 in cork airport but I've 2,300 metres to play with!
