I've had some good discussions about the WM3988HWA model on my video review and would happily try and review this model as a follow up, if LG's interested in upgrading a loyal customer.
Mold problems are usually self induced, meaning you did not follow the manufacturers instructions in the manual that came with your machine. The key is to allow your washer interior to dry out in between uses and to wipe away any water remnants from the door seal after use. The real key is to keep the door open between uses too and to clean the machine as outlined periodically. Thats why some people do not experience mold problems at all.
Per the manufacturer you MUST leave the door open after washing is complete. You MUST run the Tub Clean cycle once a month with chlorine bleach. You MUST use an appropriate amount of high efficiency laundry detergent.
I have been selling these units for 4 years and have NEVER had a single complaint from someone who follows these simple instructions.
My LG has a mold problem. I contacted the 1-800-243-0000 number and have been told to run it with vinegar. The vinegar does not help. I can not believe LG does not care about the problem and has not done anything to correct it.
