Why can't you pronounce the word SOLDER you are saying sawder, sawdering iron etc.

@pathman2 That's the way we pronounce it here... The L is silent. Watch some other people's repair videos and you'll hear them say it the same way.

Take the 2 syllable word BULLSHIT -- whether you're from KY and pronounce it with 3 syllables (i.e. BAWL-SHEE-IT) or from NJ and pronounce it with 1 syllable (e.g. BOOSHIT) -- it doesn't detract from the fact that pathman2 is full of it, and needs to be stuffed into a dank dark corner of the GAIR-IDGE with the rest of the GAR-BAHJ before sumbody git mad an' SAHD-DER his LEE-IPS tahgeddah ...

Just opened mine up and NOTHING looks broken. This is so confusing =[ Oh, mine is full of foam sticking things together and preventing me from removing the meta plate on the power supply. Maybe they did this later on as mine is a June 2007 AL2416W B.

I have a similar problem, the Acer logo stays on for a bit longer than the one in this video. though. After turning on and off enough times, the Acer logo does get brighter and brighter, then the monitor fires into life. The amount of on/off cycles I have to do is getting longer and longer though =[ Should I try to look inside or buy a new monitor? VGA is getting a bit out of date now (Mine doesn't have a DVI socket, just VGA)

Thanks for the video, it was interesting since i have the same monitor and recently it's started exhibiting vertical stripes across the entire screen, they are more noticeable with certain colours, a real shame since i've become attached to it, served me well. :(

@jottoh12 I am sure every state and country you have visited you heard the word SOLDER, why was this word mentioned to you? Do you sell it or what? Add another letter and wou get the word SOLDIER, how do you pronounce that? SAWDIER. It is two syllables SOL say that.... and DER..... and that. Now put them together, what do you get, MUPPET. You are obviously American, where you say Cli'n instead of Clinton, Innernet, couner, couny, twenny...............learn to speak English. Muppet.

What the heck pathman2 ? How do you pronounce "solder" ? I admit I have visited but 30 states and just 8 english-speaking countries but have never heard the word pronounced other than "sawder" Let me see...Hmmm... Saul-der? Sow-der? So-der? Why would anyone assume they are in the majority when it concerns a silent "L". Extremely rude. Go away pathman2 and never come back.
