The great Arthur Lydiard, didn't just coach middle & long distance runners to Olympic glory, he influenced training in other sports too. Lots of top rugby players took on his methods to increase their fitness & stamina, Graham Mourie was a prime example, Kevin Eveleigh too. Both of them regularly ran 40, 50, 60 miles or more to prepare themselves for the footie season.
Not appreciated by the NZ athletics hierarchy but certainly appreciated by Kiwi sportsmen.
