As with any grandparent, Jew or Gentile, it was him looking into took a picture of his/her grandchild that finally made him look into his heart and learn to forgive his son.

We all know the fine vocal sound of Neil Diamond. But who is the singer taking the lead in the first part? What a technique this man has (or had). Listen to the part from 1:30... Despite the very poor quality of the sound of this video you can hear his vocal quality.

What a great loss and pity for Neil, for hollywood and for his fans...i really liked the acting of Neil in the movie 'Jazz Singer'...and was seriously looking forward to his next movie...but i didn't know the critics were the deciding factor in his absence from the big screen...!!!

@paulostroff99 thank you! I still and will always love Neil's voice. Especially this scene he went beyond his pop vocals.

We just finished watching the movie "Courageous" -all about the importance of fathers. When I got home, I found this posted by a friend. And of course, this is Erev Yom Kippur, 2011. What a timely & awesome message of love & forgiveness.
I am a catholic by birth and tradition, but this scene, this movie speaks to me. I listen to my tape (yes I said tape) in my car an 02 Honda accord and I blast it. When Neil sings at the Yom Kippur mass I just die with delight. It's a hauntingly wonderful piece that reminds me why I love Neil and other cultures and religions. The world is a melting pot, and we've only got one. So let's make the best of it and be st peace with each other.

in the context of the movie this is one of the best renditions of Kol Nidre ever. This stands as a testament to the forgiveness of one's family and G-d. Would to G-d that all could see the love portrayed in this movie. We need more of this kind of forgiveness and compassion in the world.
