An introduction to Seibukan Jujutsu: A Martial Art for the Modern Day Warrior. Listen to the founder of the Art, Julio Toribio, describe the philosophy behind Seibukan Jujutsu which makes this Martial Art so unique.
This is my favourite form of Jujutsu and very effective...Luckily we have this in the U.K....It is very similar to Aikido and suitable for most people regardless of strength or size...
@Talon68 I was wondering this myself, both of them seem to emphasize passive defense (using the opponent's momentum against them) over aggressive defense (strikes, counters to an opponent's strike.)
well this guy seems to inspire me he seems like a great teacher , i never heard of seibukan jujutsu but its funny how the style i learned is seisuikan ninjutsu
Man I miss not living in Monterey anymore! I started my traditional jujutsu training there in Monterey on Lighthouse Ave. Complimented the BJJ training I was doing in Santa Cruz.
@Stogie2520: Thank you very much. I'm in San DIego right now working but when I get home, I'm fortunate enough to live near both an Aikido dojo and a Seibukan dojo. I had planned to visit them both, but I'm very much leaning towards Seibukan. Thanks again for the reply
@Talon68 your right the ukemi is very similar. But seibukan places more emphasis on controlling and subduing an attacker vs the concentration on throws in aikido. There are also more strikes and and a broader range and focus on weapons than aikido.
Love the video but could someone please answer a question for me. What is the difference between Seibukan Jujutsu and Aikido? They look VERY similar and I don't see a significant difference between the two. Any info would be much appreciated.. Thank you
Outstanding!!!
