My late mother and I often used to relax in the evenings to DVDs of "As Time Goes By". Whenever she said "Let's put Lionel on" it meant we would both end up in a good mood. My late father too loved the show - he was a bit like a working-class Lionel in many ways...

Another example of why there'll ALWAYS be an England. Mr. Palmer is so talented, beyond the usual "hollywood" glitz baloney. A performer of substance and who is real. His voice is like a musical instrument: solid yet comforting and attractive. Sort of like along the lines of Claude Rains and Colin Clive. Old school, eh what? The best!

Throughout his career, I'm confident Mr. Palmer has turned down numerous request to be interviewed on talk shows, to promote himself or a project he was apart of, like most celebrities out to fulfill they're personal selfish-agenda's, however, when it was for a children's charity, Mr.Palmer put aside his personal dislike for interviews, and gave of himself for a worthy & just cause. Not only is he a great actor, but more importantly, he's a great & kind man indeed!

Probably was Alistair's idea LOL! Maaaaaybe Jean put him up to it! Geoffrey is just amazing! I hope he does more audio books and poetry as I could listen to it for hours! He does a fair amount of charity work; personal appearances for his favorite ones, and is also devoted to his family. How many people do you know who stay married to the same person for nearly 50 years? Do check out his fishing DVD "The Compleat Angler". It is funny, informative, and very entertaining, even for non-anglers.

When I grow old I would love to be like Geoffrey Palmer. I'd love to be a grandfather like that. I don't care much about being a father, but a grandfather. That is something else. I'd help my grandchildren to nick candy from their grandmothers cupboard. I love candy.
