Good Day Sacramento Channel 31's Courtney Dempsey does a special segment on Airsoft. this was a live broadcast that took place on Monday morning on June 27, 2011 at Wayne Gerring's Ukau's Field, which happens to be the Homebase for TEAM S.A.S. Channel 31 spotlights TEAM S.A.S. interviewing Errol Mercado and his teammates as they give examples of what Airsoft is all about with the help of fellow teams Like Black Ops Airsoft, Team S.S.R., and staff members of Ukau's Airsoft field. Courtney briefly brings up SB798 with a sound bite from Senator De Leon, but really doesn't focus on that issue too much. It more or less focused on the gameplay of Airsoft and showed the public how fun Airsoft is, not how dangerous this Extreme Sport is perceived to be. To Correct my bumbled interview spotlight, Airsoft is and has always been an Adult Extreme Sport that allows youths to play under adult supervision or consent. Just as long as youths are properly briefed on the do's and don'ts, proper care, and the awareness of all safety issues, it really doesnt matter how old or young and airsofter can be. SB798 really bases their examples of individuals brandishing their airsoft in open public to the point that law enforcement officers have to intervene. Real law abiding Airsofters young and old know that we never brandish our airsoft guns in open public, to always keep them in our gun bags or cases during transport, and when approached by an officer of the law, to cooperate and inform them that they have an airsoft gun in hand. There are Civil penal codes that specifically prohibits a person from brandishing their airsoft guns in public and subjects them to fines, possibly being arrested and or serving jail time. Responsible and educated airsofters know this and would not cross that line. And if they do, then that is an individual thing, not an Airsoft Issue.

In the End, Courtney had such a blast running and playing some of the Airsoft scenarios @ Ukau's Field and did a great job showing that Enthusiasm! She really came around and did a a complete change of heart about our extreme sport. From being unsure what to expect, to having her adrenaline heart pumping and feeling the sense of accomplishment after winning a game scenario! You can see the whole tone of the segment change from a controversy point of view to just having a fun great time playing Airsoft.

Special thank you to Wayne and Christine Gerring of Ukau's Field in Galt for hosting the Live Broadcast and for always keeping th Becon of Light open for all of those who want to play Airsoft Every weekend! Without this field, this sport would not have grown as it has today!

Thank you Buster and Debbie of Black Ops Airsoft Store and your Team for coming all the way from Tracy, Your team was very cooperative and executed their parts perfectly with little time to get ready.... that made my job so much easier!

Team S.S.R. thank you for reppin all the Jr Teams out there... This Airsoft piece would not be the same without the youth, who are the future of the sport!

Lastly, to all S.A.S. team members, Thank you guys for making the last minute necessary arrangement to get the time off of work and be there to represent not only our Team, but Airsoft as a whole. This was a big opportunity for our team and we must continue to raise the bar of airsoft excellence.

  • good coverage... too bad my experience with an SAS member was really bad...

  • this reporter is garbage at airsoft, im SOO much better

  • i am quoting another youtuber, "paint all the idiots in bright colors"

  • @heartline12 well, we have been pretty shy of the press for a while. They did a story with a lot of "accidental" mistakes in it. The team called the "Silent Knights" they called "The silent NUTS" and did a lot of creative editing to make them look like gun crazy weirdos. It wasn't quite a hatchet job, but it was obvious to us they wanted to slant it to make us look like kooks.

  • @Shadowmib i've never seen bad stuff about airsoft in houston

  • Nice coverage. I wish the news media in Houston would give us some good positive coverage instead of throwing us under the bus whenever possible.
