India blasted into the international space race Wednesday with the successful launch of an ambitious two-year mission to study the moon's landscape.

Most recently India's fellow Asian nations, China and Japan, put lunar orbiters in place. Japan launched the Kaguya orbiter in October 2007, followed by China's launch of the Chang'e mission a few weeks later.

"Each nation is doing its own thing to drive its research technology for the well-being of that nation," AP quoted Charles Vick, a space analyst for the Washington think tank GlobalSecurity.org, as saying.

totally agreed wid you. Westerners have this totally f*cked up attitude of making some idiotic statement about India's poverty when we venture to achieve something ambitious goals. these low life people have a good past time discussions talking about India's poverty

anyways you're totally right they are surely having some mental blockade and yes,

Indian poverty sells like hot cakes in the insecure Western society and media, especially the British

  • is this station based in hong kong? hmmm. could their efforts to discourage india be influenced by the rulers of hong kong? just saying.....

  • India will never be able to send a man in space since they are just too afraid to take risks. Indian's cant even play any rough sports.

  • Absolutely! There is no doubt that China has made far greater progress than India. That is all real.

What I had meant was that if China wants to clear up the poverty from the cities and move them to the countryside, it can do so in one swoop. They have an absolute government that can do that easily. India cannot do that.

Also, China plays with its economic figures all the time and magnifies every achievement, including the true strength of its armed forces.

  • China's infrastructure & poverty has significantly been improved over the years + many new cities have been built also, despite there are still deviation of rich and poor &most still lives on the dollar. In comparison to India is much worse than that of China. Either way, I agree that why not our government spend more on the social economics & welfare of the lives of the people. There was no 'cover-ups' in what China's doing. The world just don't see India as modern or any where near China.
