Students from the Entertainment Technology Center at Carnegie Mellon University take research footage during several battles at PENNSIC 39 (XXXIX) using a stunt camera embedded in a shield. The research is for a student project titled Ethereal. Project Ethereal proposes to create a medieval combat video game based in realistic sword & shield combat and balanced with fun and accessibility. After training with the Society for Creative Anachronism, and the Kingdom of Aethelmearc's Barony-Marche of Debatable Lands & revered household Northern Cross, students participated at PENNSIC XXXIX to document the experience of medieval combat.
