brilliant to hear her speak about the great talullah bankhead at the end :-)

The only person that even comes close to Lucy's greatness, in my humble opinion, is Carol Burnett. That's it. The end.

There's nothing wrong with ad libbing. It was rather common
in the early days of TV....especially during rehearsals. Respect
for the writers was likely behind Lucy's big "NO" that makes me
suspect the opposite. I think it's unique to Lucy's generation to
overdue the false modesty...giving credit to the writers instead
of taking credit for ad libbing. Interesting factoid though: "Lucy
was not a terribly funny person, strangely enough". Most great
comedians are rather stoic.

@DVDFilmFun Is it correct that none of the commentary from the Laserdisc was used in any of the I Love Lucy DVD sets?

@YesYou123333 Not to take away from the subject of Lucy, but speaking of Carol Burnett, she was sometimes asked during the question-and-answer period of her show who her favorite comedian was. Her answer was always the same, and was said in all seriousness, "My favorite comedian is Harvey Korman." I think Harvey Korman was one of the greats of sketch comedy, and his performances in the movies were also stellar!

Is the clock that shows at 3:35 the same one that used to hang above the fireplace in the Ricardo's original apartment? If not, they are remarkably similar!
-
I thought Lucy might really have craved that concoction during her pregnacy.

@DVDFilmFun Oh sorry, i didnt know what it was so i asked. Is it a Lucy documentary?
illnsp08 1 year ago
@illnsp08 No, it is a collection of clips on the Laserdisc that has a commentary track with Lucy and other members of the creative team. They used new interviews and archival interviews to create the track in 1991. This is just one small excerpt from that montage and commentary.
