The chorus slightly lets it down, but the rest of it does sound a little bit like Ultravox would later be...

Actually with the addition of a couple of synths to replace the guitars, it could have been a new romantic Ultravox record 5 years later.

King of the Cops, was ahead of its time, and the first to parody the new influx of U.S cop themed shows, also compare the writing to impressionist offerings today, better than Culshaw and McGowan. It stands up well, in respect for relevant jokes per second. All those saying they were glad punk kicked in, (as I was too), but remember Midge Ure was part of that 'new' scene, although it seemed he just jumped the popularity ship as this appearance shows. He'd have become an entertainer, whatever.

King of the cops is such a hoot! I remember I learnt all the words to this I when I was about 8 (had nothing better to do I guess) I used to think was great.
Funny how perspective changes everything, but still, its nice to see all these oldies, but goodies.
