K-Rab Talks About his new singles "In The Club & Another One" and more On Buck T.V.
Atlanta music royalty
Atlanta is undeniably the creative vortex of hip hop music. The southern city with the big city appeal of NY and the southern charm of Charleston has been credited with birthing some of hip hop's biggest inspirations over the last decade. K-Rab is one of those prized inspirations, credited with creating 'snap music', a sub-genre of hip hop, stemming from the genre of crunk, that emerged in the late 90s. K-Rab's snap music originated in Atlanta, but in 2005 the sound dominated hip hop and the telecommunication airwaves resulting in southern artists from Texas to Tennessee becoming instant 'ringtone' millionaires; weaving their lyrics with snap beats of varying kinds. K-Rab is the godfather of the genre creating "Laffy Taffy" by Atlanta based hip hop group D4L, which would go one to become one of the biggest breakaway hits featuring K-Rab's signature 'snap music'.
Laffy Taffy defied all odds and earned K-Rab and D4L accolades from ASCAP, as one of the "Most Performed" songs of 2006. The song also reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and obtained substantial ranking on five additional Billboard charts. In addition, R&B vocal group Cherish's hit single Do It, to It is sampled from K-Rabs hit "Do It, Do It (Poole Palace)" by BHI ft. K-Rab. Record industry mogul, Sean Puffy Combs sampled the catchy beat on an early Pussycat Dolls single. DJ Unk's smash hit "Walk It Out" is a K-Rab inspired track; modeled after BHI ft. K-Rab's Westside Walk It Out.
And now, after crafting hits for countless other artists, K-Rab, along with the leadership of TYMEMGT & World Trade Music, is preparing the independent release of his solo album tentatively titled, Blame It On Me: The Inventor of Snap. " Over the years the artists I have worked with got a service which is K Rab the producer/engineer etc. My present works as Mr. Popular displays my craft as a composer/ producer/ engineer and more. I had complete control over how I wanted the final product and that allowed me to do things I've never been able to do on other artists projects," K-Rab says. Although his beats served as his introduction to the game, K-Rab has always known the opportunity to showcase his own artistry would come. It was important to wait for the right time to make his move. His partnership with TYME Management provided the perfect opportunity. K-Rab's unique ability to create music that is free-spirited music that is hypnotically melodic yet can move the club is something the young producer wants to do for his own project. The time has come for his audience to place a face with the music. "I am excited about my project because for one, its my re birth. I have been through obstacles during my years in music game but i stayed down, kept my head up and got through them. This project gives me the opportunity to re-invent myself and move forward," K-Rab remarks.
Although K-Rab invited the snap sound, he refuses to let that sound define his talent. He is constantly evolving, translating and experimenting with trend-setting production. "This project is all the classic sounds you remember such as the snap but with a little more razzle dazzle. I have no guidelines, rules, people standing over me making suggestions...which means "I'm Goin In". Every track will mean something, say something, make you want to do something. The time is right because I have surrounded myself and my music around people that want the company to progress. I have a story to tell and I think people will listen," K-Rab explains of his new project. K-Rab's new album is an assortment of hard-hitting beats sprinkled with various influences certain to keep parties jumping from Lithonia, GA to Los Angles, CA. His club banger Another 1 and hard-hitting 'In Da Club' showcase K-Rab's untouchable musical IQ and why he is guaranteed to be a fixture at the top of music charts for decades to come.
