Good question, I imagine that the Gore Lockout will "hold heat" better than any zipper.
The zipper or closure isn't really what blocks the wind; it's the placket underneath the zipper or closure that does the blocking.
But since the Gore closure is water- and wind-proof, I'd guess it has to do a much better job of keeping out the cold air and keeping the warmth inside.
The manufacturer of the jacket would still have to ensure that a proper placket and liner is in place also.
Just to clarify, it's not a jacket, it is a new technology for a closure system for a jacket, air vent or pocket that some manufacturers will incorporate into their products in 2010.
I wonder how it will deal with daily abuse, because it looks very fragile

Interesting that you say that because to me it looks stronger than a zipper with teeth - I'm always having problems with zippers coming apart!
