I agree. The newer Hobies are an improvement over the old banana hulls, but *personal opinion* still not as good as Prindles/Nacras. I'd like to try my hand a Moth sailing (flying?), but I haven't made out my will yet.
Blah, blah, blah. Here we go again mono versus multi, Hobie versus modern cats, etc. & we wonder why our sport has declined over the years. Lets cut the crap and realize we all love sailing and each design has it benefits, etc. Sailing should be fun and we all should get along. Lets build the sport not tare down the boats others like to sail
as a mono hull sailor of star class i can not agree more that cats rules. but to say that hc16 is a race machine is far fetch, sorry cats rules not hc16 it has its merits on overall development of catamaran
The H16 is awesome and the best Cat out there. Certainly monohull sailing has nothing on multihull sailing, sorry mono sailors! & buy a Prindle instead of a H16, why? H16 40s on the water and going strong. Worlds largest multihull class.
ok so lets say a cat can max out at around 25 knots speed, so does a 14 foot skiff. Now I would love to see some cat sailors out there sail one. I have sailed an A class a couple of times before, I can understand that cats are pretty scary and insane but I still don't think they are as technically difficult. It takes a good sailor to go fast, not the craft. The best cat sailors out there are awesome, but you can't compare to mono sailing cos they are just so different...
azattelman what are you thinking ive taught sailing for many years now and a mono hull has nothing vs cats and multi hulls srry bro but u just got pwned
Oh god, say it isn't so! A thirty year old design that gets its ass kicked by anything from the last decade has no business being taken seriously.
Least of all something only one manufacturer can make - if this is true, the Olympic sailing committee has proven itself hopelessly political and not interested in advancing sailing.
could'nt agree more ,the 16 thinks its a submarine.for fun find an old 18,or for racing a hobie tiger.I can't believe the 16 was chosen for the olympics,20 years after it should have been put in a museem.
