Having set off from near NUM HQ at Red Hills we march down North Road led by Broughtons Brass, the NUM Area Brass Band, and the NUM North-East Area Banner, followed by 3 Thornley Banners and The Bevin Boys. A quick look at the front of the original Durham Miners Association Headquarters then over Framwellgate Bridge and up Silver Street
When is there going to be a DMG website? Have to rely on word of mouth for date speakers etc.
However, I am thrilled this event has taken off in recent years. It was dying a death.
It really warms your heart to see 50000 or so others enjoying themselves in the name of brotherhood. (Ex Westoe miner).

The DMA in Durham are not yet computerised. Until they are I think we shall have to rely on word of mouth or wait until the Glal Brochures are published usually about 2 weeks before the event.
This years Gala (2009) promises to be the biggest for many years. It is the 125th Gala and the 100th Cathedral Gala Service. It is on Saturday 11th July. See you there?

Yes we will be there (i.e. me, wife and 7 year old daughter).
Even if you are a neutral it is a great day out.
By the way, are you the tall elderley gentleman I bought a programme from ?

I doubt it! I do not seem to fit that description. 6ft tall, round shoulders, ugly, overweight, yes but Gentleman???? I do not know. I was with the Thornley banner with cameras round my neck, as I will be this year.
