PDD-NOS Autism, Playing the Drums, and Stimming

My 3 year old son has been diagnosed with PDD_NOS Autism. He loves playing the drums but the need to stem is far greater. Stimming has been a part of our life since he was a baby. His stimming practices have been very hard to interfere with and he will tantrum if interrupted. Trying to get his attention focused on something other than the stimming device works best as proven in the above video, however, many times he will hold on to whatever the object might be and incorporate it in his play. Not appropriately, but will multitask by playing and stimming simultaneously.
