Zohar is a 17-year-old high school senior. He lives with his parents, sister and beloved dog, Max. Like any teenager, Zohar likes to hang out with his friends. He wants to be a photographer and videographer. And though Zohar has been visually impaired his whole life, he uses the latest low-vision solutions to enable him to excel at his budding career goals.
In 2010, Zohar became a part of our new Blind Leaders Innovation Project and worked with LightHouse staff, outside employers and other mentors to address barriers to employment they may face because they are blind or visually impaired. Zohar's primary project this summer was creating this video.
"I learned a lot of new skills in team-building, using public transportation and being more flexible and independent. I met new people and saw old friends. I already know what I want to be when I'm older, and I got to do that kind of work this summer -- photography and videography. I'm excited for my senior year, especially the film class I'm taking. One day, I want to work for Apple...or maybe the LightHouse." -- Zohar Zimmerman
Give today and help us continue to mentor, teach and empower leaders of tomorrow, like Zohar, and the many other blind or visually impaired youth, adults and seniors who benefit from LightHouse programs: http://bit.ly/lighthousedonations
