I suspect that Linux support isn't offered because if your using Linux to begin with, your probably able to setup your own SSH tunnel just fine without the help of any other software or hardware devices.
In that case, you wouldn't really need an iTwin anyways

@BLACKBINLATIN good question. we are still establishing if future OS compatibility upgrades will be rolled out as software updates for existing users that already own an iTwin remote file access device today. for future users (after mid spring) it should be possible to receive OS compatibility upgrades as a software update. but not right now. best wait a few months before purchase if you are hellbent on Linux. subscribe to the Twitter feed to be kept up to date on developments? @iTwinTweet

ok so if i buy an itwin now would i have to turn around and spend another 100 something dollers for the linux version or would it be just a simple update to the software or a s&h fee to upgrade the hardware cuz im not paying full price for both

is that so unlimited access and transfer ever and no monthly fee huh well i guess i see you guys in February when the updates are out and i have the money =)

hi again, final comment for today i promise:)
iTwin's price: although there's a 1-time cost, there are no limits to how much data you can access or transfer, ever. And there are no monthly fees, regardless of how much you use your iTwin. Yes you need good Internet connection, like for most online products.
we are rolling out two major software updates during Feb 2011. They're worth watching out for. If u r interested, follow us on Twitter (iTwinTweet) or Like us on Facebook, (iTwinFeed). Thx!

@metalmanga iTwin supports remote disable, local disable and also optional passwd :-)

hi all, Luke from iTwin again.
You can also add a password to iTwin, for 2 factor security. The option is available with a simple right click.
There are pure software ways of doing this, sure. But iTwin involves no configuration or tinkering; and it's hardware-secure. It means people don't have to rely merely on a password, (which is let's face it always risky). While you're accessing, both computers need to be powered on. We're rolling out a remote wake-up feature later this year.

Hi, Luke from iTwin again!
Second thing is security. Yes we support remote disable.
The iTwin model is inherently secure. The 2 halves of iTwin generate a unique key every time they're paired. Hardware AES 256bit. Only the 2 halves know the key.
If you had both halves of someone's iTwin, you wouldn't be able to access any of their data. If u had one half of someone's iTwin, the iTwin owner can unplug their half of iTwin, or they can remotely disable the connection (over the web).
Has Hak5 done any hacking at CES?? Seems like itd be a great place with all of those computers..
