My friends and I went to Harbin for the "Ice Festival," that strange English translation for Harbin's annual winter celebration that amounts to what is essentially a frozen theme park. Harbin was the coldest place I have ever been to, or ever want to go: those giant snow and ice sculptures didn't melt in the least, and even under multiple thick layers and in waterproof boots, everything was slowly going numb as we walked through a truly unique winter wonderland.

  • its minus 25 in toronto now but all i see is a ghost town...no fun here at all.

  • Well, to be fair, I spent two years in China, and cool stuff like this never just happened. It was always a special event that I had to go to. Where I lived, the sun set at 4, and the entire city went to sleep at 8. Possibly the most boring place I've ever lived. China's awesome, but outside the big cities, and even within them unless something big is happening, it's a damn dull place.
