Hi Youtoos,
Do we have any three's? Thas a joke, Son.
In this video our muli-continental quartet CHiP-CHoP is exploring a ruggedly related version of great American folk-musician Elizabeth Cotten's tune FREIGHT TRAIN. I almost grew up with this song as a young guy backwoodsing-it in Western Vermont during the early '70's. My neighbor Eric and I would explore this piece in almost daily acoustic sessions with the background of a nearby stream girgling along. This ride on 10 November grabbed the audience at Oskarshamn Public Library (Sweden) for a bit of variation in sing-a-long. Geza (violin), Sadie (congas) and Wilhard (bass) all put in a few tasty solo riffs during the journey.
All Aboard!

  • see also the carter family's 'cannon ball.'

are you and old time music fan and, if so, how?

  • ... Hi Bopvito ... I'm just getting kinda old so any music I play fits into the Old Time genre ... But, actually, I've been digging Freight Train since the early 70's in picking and grinning sessions with my backwoods neighbor during our lives in Vermont. Also met Elizabeth Cotton for a short conversation in Woodstock, Vermont in 1983. ... It's authentic. ... Dave @ Woodpile

  • OMG!!! You're Really Fantastic!!

  • The conga riffs sound like the wheels hittin' the joints on the rails...very tasty, Dave!

  • This sounds like how I'd envision "Hot Tuna" performing this classic tune....aside from the whistles perhaps!

  • Wow, great rendition of an old classic.
