No Javelin coach in the world will probably recommends to beginners to throw like Mirella MANJANI -TZELILI as her technique with the open landing and blocking of the left leg is really putting a lot of stress on the lower back of the athlete. Trine HATTESTADT , a former world record holder , is illustrating what we could say to be the more classical "Nordic" style and to compare these 2 world class throwers is interesting and easy. But remember that the best technique is the one best suited to ONE athlete and maybe that at the end the Manjani's technique is the one she was the most comfortable and efficient with .... event if I would never use it myself as a coaching technical model .

  • You are right but Verouli and Sakorafa were throwing with a quite different styles and technical choices , also depending on their different morphology. It is good (but not easy) that the same coach can find what is the best for each particular athlete and not try to get them all on the same "menu" !

  • people in my school keep saying track is for little girls. NEVER UNDERESTIMATE LITTLE GIRLS!!!!

  • the dynamic of Mirella compensate her lack of weight and power therefore her style is superior and more efficient

  • Although Manjani's technique surely is personal,as every athlete's technique should be,i believe it could really be considered as a very efficient model in general because it has produced another couple of great performers, one of them a former European champion ,Anna Verouli and the other a former WR holder,Sophia Sakorafa who also shared the same coach with Manjani.
