Their ya go.. Odysseus battled his way to win! Charly had no excuses for his dissapointing finish.. They say he had "traffic problems" but come on! Look at Lookin at Lucky's Horrible traffic problems while still winning.. I think Charly is off the Derby Trail..

I wouldn't be that harsh on Charly. He had a rough trip buried on the rail the whole way, and may not have loved the blinkers. He was beaten less than three lengths at the wire, not a terrible effort, though it wasn't exceptional either.

Overall, nothing in this race REALLY impressed me here. Odysseus kind of seemed to when on sheer talent, but he ran an unremarkable race, and it probably took a lot out of him considering how long he was hard ridden.

Charly has a big shot here. He seems to me like a horse that will be bet down from his 5/2 ML though...and to me that means he isn't offering a tremendous amount of value. For me 3/1 is the shortest I could take, at 7/2+ he becomes a very good bet, IMO.

Well This was this first time Odysseus had to really fight for his win and he made a HUGE jump in class from his last race to the Tampa Bay Derby. I just hope that this race didnt take too much out of him..

I was already impressed with Odysseus prior to this race so Im staying up on him. But yes, other than him no one really impressed me.. The only Derby potential horse that REALLY impressed me this weekend was Lookin' At Lucky. He really overcame a lot to win the Rebel.

I finally agree with you on something! I knew it would happen! I think Odysseus has the biggest shot in this race also. Hes in my top five Derby horses at this time.. He's either going to wow us or fall short.

I'm thinking Uptowncharliebrown for this one. He raced third in the Sam F Davis Stakes,and he did keep running on a little bit near the end of the race, and he was coming from 7 Furlongs to a mile 1/16 race so I think he should be better this time. Last year you look at Musket Man, who ran third in the Sam F Davis Stakes, went on to win the Tampa Bay Derby.

Super Saver may be the most talented, but his running style, and the fact he's coming off a layoff, just doesn't suit me.
