You mean back before Chris Thile's stuff got so left field that no one can stand listening to it? Thile is an unreal mandolin player but the music being put out by he and his band is just dog-beater bad. It's what happens when musicians start trying to be really "artistic" which fits in well with what folks in Colorado think is bluegrass. Yonder Mountain is proof of that. What makes bluegrass fun is catchy, tight rhythms and good vocals. By the way, are Sara and Sean Watkins doing anything now?
