No it doesn't get in the way. In fact it is "hidden" for curious people who briefly take a look inside the quest and don't know how the steering works ;-) You have to get the handlebars out of the resting position to see the gps-unit.

Can you put the steer all the way up and tuck it behind the foam? Doesn't the GPS unit get in the way?
