@geraldb4201 I have heard the same thing about grounding. According to the USAF/NASA grounding can be harmful by reducing the level of protection. To test, turn on a radio and place it in the faraday cage, if the radio looses signal with no ground, try connecting an earth ground if begins to pick up signal, a ground should not be used. Likewise if the radio still gets signal when placed in the faraday cage connect the ground, does it loose signal or increase signal or is there no change?

@TheMrsVolfie living in Canada it is possible you had EMP interference. I can not say that for certain but it is very possible considering your geographical position. Thanks for passing this along.
