@horus0987 Dante didn't write the music, he inspired Liszt to do so.

this is the best part of the symphonia Liszt was a genius like no other unique and inspired.thaks for posting that
-
@MrTheMotive You mean what was Dante thinking when he wrote it.
-
What was Liszt thinking when he wrote this? Was Virgil really Liszt traveling with Dante? :O

@PaperadiGomma123 I have read all three parts of the Divine Comedy, I know what it is. I was talking about the fact that the Roman Catholic church deemed this a holy work of music, despite the fact that the tritone interval was banned by the church only a few hundred years before...

@TRIAM1D No, it was just a poem written by Dante Alighieri. The "Inferno" in particular it's wonderful, but it's practically impossibile even for italians like me to understand it. :)

this song reminds me of the battle between prince philip and maleficent in sleeping beauty

If you haven't read the Divine Comedy, I'd highly recommend it...
John Ciardi's translation is very readable, too.
I love the return of the descent theme...the turmoil is immediately apparent.
Divine Comedy is one of the greatest works in world literature. It's great but hard to read.
