i am not suprised by the results of the experiment in the least. i think the problem here is that they chose the wrong facet of astrology to test in the first place. the stuff you find in news papers & mags is so highly generalized that you could interpret just one sign to apply to them all, as the experiment showed. the strength of astrology lies not in the nitpicking of petty occurances in day-to-day life, but rather in the dynamic layout of the heavens at the exact moment of a person's birth
It's no secret that humans have a tendency to follow authority in terms of belief and philosophy. Naturally, people will believe many things without question. That's why most of the world's population believe in magic and spirits. Of course, wishful thinking plays a part too. Bandwagon effect among others all add up to a great deal of people believing in utter inane dogmas. However, I tend to prefer evidence before belief. I'm just silly like that.
@piip4 The barrnum effect a psychological term. A lot of people accept evolution but don't know the mechanism behind this process. Do these people suffer from the barnum effect. As for astrology, some people will accept anything that is throwed at them. Doesn't this question the personality of the person than the strength/weakness of astrology?
Oh, well I haven't done my research properly. I didn't come across any evidence supporting astrology's assertion that being born a particular day sets your personality in stone from day 1. Have you heard of the Barnum effect?
@piip4 No god or belief or faith in astrology, you must do your reseach better. I saw Dawkins in a public book talk, It was like going to a church. It was full of his loyal flock. I wanted to throw up.
@Caltwentynine When evolution is questioned, I half expect gravity to be mentioned so you don't disappoint. You can follow whatever you want, I couldn't give a fuck.
Dawkins puts on a great, classy, short. I just posted a song on my channel called Astrology Is Wrong. Not quite as classy, but still to the point.
