This isn't Cairns - this is the areas that surround Cairns (including the Atherton Tablelands (also known as Cairns Highlands by all of the tourists)). The actual city of Cairns stretches 30km south of the city to 30km north of the city & right up to the base of the hills. Anything past that is referred as the Cairns Region but not in Cairns itself.

So nice to see wonderful comments about Cairns. I've lived here all my 12 years of life and is it such a beautiful place, but I would like to get out and explore some other countries! :P

Is JCU a good place to study marine bio? And as a student from Michigan graduating 2014, is it difficult to get into with the right qualifications

@Noblyuntruthful Okay awesome. Well good luck. I know JCU is the best uni in Australia for Marine Biology! Though you would have to transfer to Townsville JCU in your 2nd year of studies.

@Noblyuntruthful Either Marine Biology (studying at one of the 7 natural world wonders would be incredible) or Geography. Although, I plan on becoming a commercial pilot (hopefully in Australia).
