June 9, 2008. Civil disobedience in protest of Seattle's policy regarding sweeps of homeless encampments on public land. The lives of homeless people are endangered by the destruction of their survival gear, done in the name of "public safety" and "hygiene." The video begins with some of those who have chosen to be arrested naming individual homeless people who have died on the streets locally, in whose name they take action. Next, you see them standing in Cherry St in Downtown Seattle, between City Hall and the Columbia Tower skyscraper, i.e between the mayor's office and the county executive's office, blocking traffic with a tent. Next, the swarming of bicycle cops, followed by demonstrators chanting support, and the initial arrests.
