This was just something I filmed while I was in Kyoto recently for an archery event at a temple where many kimono-clad girls go to shoot arrows as part of their coming of age celebrations. This girl has a bit of a mishap but hey! it could happen to anyone! I've done worse with a toy bow at a carnival game stall. I just thought this as funny and cute.

This is just a teaser for my video on Toshiya which is an archery event at Sanjusangendo Temple in Kyoto where over 2000 archers gather, many of them kimono clad girls, to shoot at 60-meter distant targets.

  • @RoninDave I think she will handle other things well.............

  • 0:13 -achoo! (oops...)

  • then she did seppuku

  • She seemed nervous. She probably saw the camera and got stage fright.. Is the reason you don't show us her next attempt because you had to flee the scene with arrows flying around your head?

  • I kinda wanted to cry for her. Still, could I do better? NO

  • Would be fun if she just started raging and cursing, then collected her self and started aiming again.

  • Thats all Japan has is cute, cute and more cute ... its sickening... where are all the sexy girls in this country!!

  • Drawing a bowstring above your head is terribly difficult, the shifting hand position means you have to hold the string, but not the arrow. Instead the arrow must rest on between the index and middle finger, so that the arrow can slide forward as you bring the bow down to eye level. If not, you get pressure on the arrow, which can cause it to pop out when you try to adjust your fingers. If she hadn't loosened her fingers when she did, they would have been hit by the string, skewing her shot.

  • Kyudo is harder than it looks, by a HUGE margin :)

  • o mannnnnnnnnnnn
