Try building off of ttylinux. LFS looks fun though

I'm working on my own LFS distro right now. It's actually not that hard.. just don't screw up. :-)

@summ22 I don't know but LFS is the hardest distro out of there? I prefer Slackware.

how geeky can shit get?
-
@JethroLuk Window Maker is great too!
-
What system did you develop it off? Or did you use the LFS Live CD?
-
It looks nice...
The boring thing about LFS is when you decide to install KDE or Gnome, because you begin to lose control over processes and services. I think fluxbox is a great option to use on LFS.

Also, looks like someone forgot to set the PS1 setting in their .bashrc. It also looks like you mis-configured a few things. I just finished LFS, I'm compiling a kernel now, and I have to agree with dlDann, you need to know some basic things before you can even attempt to make a linux system, there is NO gui by default in LFS, you can add one after you make your system though, but by that time, it's a bit too late. Also, try to stick to the stable versions. Trust me.

LFS? It's not that hard. If you follow the directions and have good knowledge of how a unix/linux system works, and how to move around in it, it will work fine. I am doing LFS SVN-20100412 right now, the latest unstable version. I'm halfway through, and I've gotten 1 problem so far, a quick google search tells me how to fix the issue. LFS is a great way to learn the inner workings of a linux system. So is gentoo. It's a truely amazing project. If you have the time to compile LFS. It's worth it.

@Acefangamestudio LOL, don't even bother ;-)
I end up working with both, Linux and Windows. The Linux is more fun though. This project (LFS) was a nightmare, but I learned a lot about all the separate little parts that make up the basic OS. I did it for a school project; and got an A on it :) (not a 100, but still an A)
Thanks valdes1978 for the comment.
