When Baghdad fell in 2003, the USA re-wrote Iraq's economy law, ended all supports for local farmers, imposed a law preventing Iraquis farmers from saving their own seeds and put an american agriculture business (Is it Monsanto?) executive to take charge of Iraqui agricultural sector. The results were devastating.

It seems as if Iraq is now a colonial country of the United States. If not by name, by economical, and agricultural practice.

As someone whose parents were born in Iraq, this deeply saddens me to watch this video. I cannot believe a country with such a rich history based upon agriculture supported by the fertile crescent has been reduced to a third world country that receives it produce from foreign markets. The people there can only do so much with a lack of infrastructure and a constant state of volatility. Things will not be back to "normal" there for nearly 50 years in my opinion.
