When Baghdad fell in 2003, the USA re-wrote Iraq's economy law, ended all supports for local farmers, imposed a law preventing Iraquis farmers from saving their own seeds and put an american agriculture business (Is it Monsanto?) executive to take charge of Iraqui agricultural sector. The results were devastating.

  • It seems as if Iraq is now a colonial country of the United States. If not by name, by economical, and agricultural practice.

  • As someone whose parents were born in Iraq, this deeply saddens me to watch this video. I cannot believe a country with such a rich history based upon agriculture supported by the fertile crescent has been reduced to a third world country that receives it produce from foreign markets. The people there can only do so much with a lack of infrastructure and a constant state of volatility. Things will not be back to "normal" there for nearly 50 years in my opinion.
