It really is a great pity that you don't know anything about the subject that you are purporting to be tutoring people about. Your shot with the house in the background really achieved nothing. i would suggest going outside and photographing something close with a blurred background, and then decrease the aperture so that all is in focus. Unfortunately the longer you talk the deeper the hole you dig for yourself. Depth of Field is fun, experiment!!!!

I am using a film camera for a class. The canon AE1 Program. I took the lens off and moved the f lens and it while i was looking at the lens while spinning the f numbers it did not move...is this a problem?

did you adjust the focus in any of those examples or was it left the same? i'm thinking playing with the focus alone will alter the dof?

@philboy521 It won't increase or decrease the depth of field, what happens is it actually shifts it farther or closer to the camera.
