@Blahb27 I wasn't talking about every bone in the shoulder being crushed. I was mainly talking about the collar bone, since there is nothing really protecting it besides skin, and even then it wouldn't break completely in half. However, a fractured collar bone is one of the most painful bones to fracture. Also, the fact that if you follow through with the kick properly, you reduce the chance of hurting yourself (as with any strike). Plus if you land an axe kick, that's a blow to the psyche. ;-)
@Danalds Shoulder bones are tough things, supported by the whole ribcage and many other bones, with many muscles stretched over them on all places possibly vulnerable. You're however striking with a much less supported and smaller heel bone. If anything will break, it's likely the heel.
And then often your foot is stuck on his shoulder at least momentarily, and you're at your opponent's mercy. Ussually not a winning gameplan. ;-)
I'm wondering why you think that damage can't be done to a shoulder with this kick. Shoulder dislocation or a broken collar bone during a fight would be severely detrimental.
this is not an advanced kick i learned it when i was an orange belt, and don't try to kick any one in the shoulder it's stupid, u use this to knock down some ones arms and open their body
Looks stupid tho...

I call it a Inside crescent axe kick, because it goes inside and cuts down. unlike a front axe kick which comes forward
