ABOUT THE VIDEO

Accidents happen, you could fall or slip while defending yourself or trying to avoid a dangerous situation, you might sprain your ankle or broke your toe in a fight and you cant stand up.

GROUND & KNIFE SURVIVAL SEMINAR, DESENZANO DEL GARDA, ITALY 2007

The movements shown are "options" that you could have if you do have to defend yourself on the ground without resorting to grappling with the attacker.

NO GRAPPLING

Intended for multiple attackers you have to be mobile & cant afford to be entangled with one person.

If your legs & feet are not injured, it is advisable that u get up as soon as possible to fight on your feet or flee if the situation needs for you to do so.

The postures invite attacks to larger targets of the body. Due to the low elevation & inviting postures, when attacked all strikes & intentions coupled with body-weight, momentum & gravity are fully committed rendering the attacker vulnerable at the moment before hitting its target.

AGAINST MULTIPLE ATTACKERS ON THE GROUND

You may have heard many instructors say "ground fighting is totally useless against multiple attackers" but try thinking out of the box, ground fighting is NOT only grappling as this video demonstrates.

TRAINING METHODS

We do not "pressure test" movements to novice beginners, if the individual has not reach the competent level of understanding, why test his skills? Its like a college lecturer giving a final year exam paper after you attended only afew sessions of lectures. Does that make any sense? Martial arts training is no different.

Training beginners has to be done slowly and carefully.

Every action will equal the exact opposite reaction. The harder and faster the attack, the harder and faster will the attacker hit the ground. The defender has to compensate for every move the attacker makes. The movements has to be drilled repetatively to instill muscle memory, to understand zoning, to understand body mechanics and its underlying principles.

Reckless training may injure your training partner or yourself, resulting in low drill repetitions which at the end is not benificial to anyone.

Many Thanks to Carlo Andries, his beautiful family & students esp. Andrea & Gianluigi my translators in my classes, Alex, Gianmaria & all recievers of my movements.

  • mma is a ring sport made up of other ring sports and competion sports with rules and judges. the fighters know there opponents and have time to get ready 4 the fight. not sure you can judge them against each other. and why would any normal person need there martial art to work in cage or ring. i dont have any of them in the streets where i live. and we have only seen 2 and a half minutes of a seminar which lasted hours. not sure you can judge its merit on that. good video. keep open mind

  • Silat is a battlefield art. These techniques have been refined in actual combat against foreign invaders and warring tribes. Not in a padded octagon surrounded by a rope and monitored by a referee.

  • @ILoveBritneyBoykin you do realize that claiming BJJ is not usefull outside of mma and grappling tournaments is just as ignorant and arrogant of a statement as the ones the guy you're responding to makes? bjj has its roots in traditional japanese martial arts that have been tested in war. plus grasie jiu jitsu was originally meant for self defense.

  • @mmtxaz: You're just a talk talk, and a joker as well. Why don't you shut the hell up, and stop being a bitch. All you do is mambo your mouth. If you think this Master is a joke, then why don't you challenge him in person, and see for yourself. I bet you don't have a gut stand up against him and fight like a man. You probably run away from him like a bitch anyway. FYI, Cage fighting is just a sport, not a matter of life and death.

  • Man,don't judge before you try it first.if you're not wanting to learn it,maybe you can test it.. who knows you may like it.

  • There is one problem with ground fighting techniques like these. In itself nothing however teaching a person how to fight on the ground teaches you to stay on the ground everyone needs to know that but your first concern should be how to get up quickly and correct as possible.

  • @mmtxaz

if you dont get it its ok. just relax and move on with your life, i will try to do the same. enjoy the little things and try not to take everything at face value. got luck and take care friend.

  • @rikimaru84 This vid is crap. sorry, but it's terrible technique and anyone who paid for it got suckered.

  • @mmtxaz 99% of the time? Where do you get your data?

  • @mmtxaz Judo, sambo, and catch wrestling kills bjj. 99% of the time. And their practitioners doesn't have this kind of attitude like yours.
