The meaning of this song needs no explanation. It is a beautiful song for anyone with a mournful soul. If this song speaks to you than you could soon be in good shape because Jesus said: "Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted" (matt. 5:4). What he meant was blessed who mourn over their own sinfulness, understanding what they deserve. He also thankfully said: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16).
