Adrian Francis Rollini (June 28, 1903 - May 15, 1956)
was a child prodigy on piano; at age four he played a recital at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel (34th sreet and 5th Avenue) in New York. He led his own band at age 14 and began playing with the California Ramblers in the early 1920s. The California Ramblers were one of the most recorded bands of the 1920s. The band also featured Red Nichols, Jimmy and Tommy Dorsey. The California Ramblers played popular tunes of the day with a Jazz influence. While in that band Rollini developed his distinctive style of bass saxophone playing. He played in Red Nichols' Five Pennies and appeared on many of Red's recording sessions. He also worked with Frankie Trumbauer and his Orchestra and recorded with Cliff Edwards and Bix Beiderbecke and his Gang. In 1934 he put together some recording sessions that featured Jack Teagarden, Bunny Berigan and Benny Goodman.

The credits for the 6 tunes recorded that day, June 14/1935, the lineup is:
Wingy Manon (tp/voc); Joe Marsala (Cl/as); Adrian Rollini (bass/vib/xyl); Putney Dandridge (p/voc); Carmen Mastren (g); Sid Weiss (b); Sam Weiss (d).
This track specifically is Wingy Manone singing lead with Putney Dandridge doing the back second voice.

@fromthesidelines I believe the second voice is the guitarist Nappy Lamarre - you can hear Wingy's vocal begin with "Say Nappy, I sure am cold" and Nappy replies "I'm kinda chilly myself". But, more interesting, is why Adrian Rollini doesn't seem to be present - no bass sax, no vibes not even a hot fountain pen! Unless he was playing piano, instead of Putney Dandridge which seems unlikely.

See what you can do
Take the sun, make it shine
Find my gal and make her mine
Oh, change your plan
You know you can

Hi Roybo,
Thanks for the link to Dolly Dawns Weather Man. Dolly Dawn is completely new to me and although she is very much a product of the time, she has a lovely sound and really knows how to sing a song!
I shall be looking for more of Dolly D. - thanks to you! However, I must say, I think I still prefer the 'Tap Room Gang's' version ...particularly the vocal patter just before Putney Dandridge starts singing. For me - more relaxed.
Nice to meet a fellow 30s enthusiast on here. Cheers!

Does anyone know the lyrics to this lovely little song.
Some of the words are hard to hear, and I've searched Google for these lyrics without success.
Any help would be much appreciated.

what a group of musicians what i like most about early swing is there are always great players, but the melody never gets lost in the riffing
