He is singing the wrong lyrics. The correct lyrics are "Hey, did you rock and roll?". NOT "hey kids". I know, that lyric is all over the internet, but it's wrong. Look at David Essex singing live (not the lip sync videos) and you can tell what the real lyric is. Aside from that mistake, this remake adds nothing to this song. The Def Leppard version is much better than this, but the original is still all you need.

I find it kinda funny that he looks like Corey Haim and Corey Haim is in the video. lol. I'm just finding this out now. I'd never seen this video until Christmas 2011. pretty sad for a child of the 80s...

I was an Y&R fan when he was just a newbie! I was a dancer when this song came out in the 80's! Now I love his "kid", Daniel, on Y&R! Wow! How times goes by!

i don't even know how this song hit #1. i really don't. except for his exposure on Y & R, he wouldn't have made it big. My favorite song actually by Michael is "Was It Nothing At All"..beautiful, check it out!

@pedro3dynamite Rock on is a remake of a classic and I hate to say it but I like this song 10 times better than David's Essex's version. There is something epic to the production the drums are crazy! The video is kinda lame but seriously this song is amazing.

@therealdjdrank ...trust me, i remember the original, as my parents had bought the 45 when i was only 5. the original version was waaay different than most songs in that time period. to me, i like this version especially the electric guitar and electronic sounds but the vocals are subpar. still sounds like he was doing karaoke!!
