I picked up Redwood Hill from a Country Gentlemen recording. I never really got into singing many of the Country Gentlemen songs until a time when Charlie Waller and I were hanging out together and he made a few comments about my guitar playing and singing. After that I seemed to have a different view of his music that inspired me to perform more of Charlies songs.
This is a great song, originally composed and performed by Gordon Lightfoot - although his version is more folky.

The group I'm picking with right now does this song. It's a great CG song, but it's tough to get the vocals to sound good. Plus, very few mando players know their part on that split break (I play banjo and sing tenor).
