Here is part 5 of my Tascam DP-02/CF porta-studio video tutorial, In this video I will demonstrate how to make volume louder in Audacity. Many people have asked about volume levels and how to make them better, this is in my opinion the simplest way.
Audacity link: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
Doolb666: http://www.youtube.com/user/doolb666 Check him out, he does horror movie reviews as well as being a good friend of mine, and I had to give him credit for his song.

I hope this helps you. If you need further help or need help with anything let me know, just message or comment.

  • Soooo "simple editing" consists solely of turning the volume up or down???

  • @paulskipaulski69 Ummm yes. You can else equalize or add reverb its up to you... The tools are there what you do with them is your choice.

  • What kind of OS do you have? I WISH I could afford a MAC, but it sounds like you're saying there's something else?

  • @TheMoleintheground Umm, I'm running Linux Ubuntu, Its a free open source OS, it takes the best of both Windows and Mac. It runs as fast as mac even faster, I think, although im comparing it to my schools mac's so i really dont know, but Ubuntu is fast, and virus free. Everything on it is open source which means its free. you can also instal it on any computer, it runs fast on my old crap computer that im using, if you wanna check it out i can send you a link.

  • @PoliticalDestruction Yeah thanks man for that tip, I was just wondering if that was better optimized for recording than windows, cause I've had a lot of problems with windows... One problem I have with the Tascam DP-02 is that it doesn't have Line IN, I wan to record drums and guitar/bass at the same time so the best I can do is with 1 mic on the drums, which will work but will not sound as great as using a mixer.

  • @TheMoleintheground Well, its okay for recording there is a free type of pro tools but my computer cant run it, for pretty much every program there is an open source version of it, i have a problem with windows error messages constatly popping up and my programs crashing for no reason, yeah for the DP-02 just record the audio out of your computer into one of the inputs, or better yet buy a 1/8" stereo to dual 1/4" jacks for stereo recording, thats how i do it, when i need beats on the DP-02

  • @TheMoleintheground If you have any more questions let me know man.

  • @TheMoleintheground Thanks, but im very short on cash, my parents just got a divorce. But thanks, im just working with what i have, and also i will not use a windows computer so if i was going to get either of those i'd have to buy a mac because they arent compatible with my OS.

  • I also have a Tascam DP-02 and BTW thanks for that video, but dude you should seriously think about upgrading to Sonar or Cubase, I have Sonar LE that came with an interface and I've noticed when you import wav files into Sonar (I also have audacity) it sounds ten times better than audacity, and the freebies that come with Sonar + the free vst plug-ins you can get on the web to work with Sonar or Cubase, will make your recordings sound so much better
