The title of the film is "Karakoram" and more info can be found on my website listed below. In 1975, the first US climb of K2 (or Karakoram) was made and the expedition was led by the great mountain climber, Jim Whittaker. Whittaker was also the first American climb Everest. In this film produced and directed by Laszlo Pal, the entire experience was captured in an hour long documentary. Available for the first time on DVD, this film is a masterpiece by a multiple Emmy award winning filmmaker - known for his films on Everest, the Iditarod and Sailing Alone Around the World. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000TUC4ZA?ie=UTF8&seller=A2OHOEVST4QF1Y...

  • @Helmut83 annapurna has the highest death rate i believe due to incredible avalanche danger. But it probably isn't the most "difficult"

  • @m2verick They say Annapurna is the worst.

The part that sticks in my mind was when Ridgeway described the anger that some of the climbers on the team had when they realized that they were just being used as mules to haul loads up to the high camps and not being considered for a summit bid. Whittaker and his wife appeared to be saving themselves for a summit try while others did the dirty work. He mentioned that one climber said if Whittaker tries to use physical force he'd get an ice ax planted in his head. Whittaker
