  • "Uh, Mr. Hecker? That information is totally fascinating and all, but... WHEN IS A NEW REDD KROSS ALBUM GOING TO COME OUT?!"

  • man, you LA science kids don't kmow how lucky you are - wish I'd had him, instead of my science teacher (a Marist Brother in a dress with a crucufix and a big stick)

But this guitar lesson video (above) is the next best thing

  • my science teacher 2! He is nice!!!!!!!! Yeah

  • Well, pay attention, do your homework, and he might teach you some of his dazzling guitar techniques - because he's a genius!

( I wish one of you science kids would ask him about his gravity-defying stage moves - check the clip at about 00:50 seconds in)

  • Hey science kids and fans... he is married to a beautiful woman and has great kids... so be respectful. But yeah he rocks...

  • Damn straight.

Any less-than-respectful comments won't last long here.

  • WOAH!! I'm kind of new to liking Redd Kross so I haven't listend to very many of there songs and I was stunded when Steve started to sing :D

  • I kept going to Redd Kross shows in the late 80's, and kept being amazed that they hadn't hit it big! Then Neurotica came out, and I was sure that I would never get to see them again... they'd be too big, etc. But it didn't happen, and I am totally baffled how Neurotica didn't break them into the mainstream. Such a great album!

  • @crankenstyne Shame ay? In my humble opinion, I think that the Third Eye album blew it for them. They had all the buzz and momentum and it should have been a huge record, but it was so polished and overproduced that it barely sounded like the same band that recorded Neurotica. Now if they'd released Phaseshifter in 1990 instead, things would have been different. To me, that's Redd Kross's masterpiece but by the time they got round to releasing that, it was too late and they'd missed the boat.

  • This band totally ruled met Steve at SXSW he was so cool ...they deserved more success but all have enjoyed a career in music and are still going check out OFF!

  • I was at this show. Always thought Redd Kross would hit it huge. At the time, in L.A., they were every bit as popular as the Chili Peppers, Jane's Addiction, and G & R.. all of who went on to mega-stardom. Somehow RK never took off... Too bad.. Great band

  • Loved this period of Redd Kross the best and saw them on that tour when they played Philly. They did a version of the theme from Good Times which they stared out kinda slow and by the time I figured out what they were doing it blew up really cool into pandemonium! Awesome band! : )>

  • So great to see the respectful posts here. I saw Red Kross twice on the "Neurotica" tour, once for free at UCLA and once at the Whisky with Frightwig opening--one of the greatest shows ever. Glad to hear Robert Hecker is still expanding minds albeit in a new way--he was an amazing guitarist. Saw him do a solo show circa '88 at the Llasa Club in Hollywood--Steve McDonald sat right next to me!

  • 1987 great year for rock
