I wonder if they would sell pre-made potassium nitrate at my local hobby shop? If not, I would gladly use this method of making my own. I really wouldn't want to pay for it online, considering that I could probably make it on my own for less, not to mention that this method wouldn't test my patience as much as waiting for a delivery.

@blueeyesseto well that explains it. find a friend who'd be willing to pick it up for you in the city then have them bring it too you. you'd have to wait longer but it would be cheaper. even cheaper than crystallizing it yourself.
for any significant amount of KNO3 using this way, you'd have to buy 2 dozen ammonium nitrate cold packs ($60 ish) find a supplier of potassium chloride (best i've found was $30 for 200grams.) even then it's impure.
so really it's cheaper to go for $80/kg pure.

@blueeyesseto you can buy from aussie ebay, there are several sellers in QLD and NSW that will ship almost anywhere to a metro area.
it's by courier so you'll have to have someone sign for it.
you can get about 3kg of KNO3 for $35AU including standard postage.

every store that i go to has bonide stump remover (ive been to ACE hardware and Home Depot) its 2011 so did they put spectracide out of business or wat?
