The failure of England's mental health policies has led to thousands of seriously ill people being locked up. But prisons are unable to deal with so many ill inmates.

"It's shocking. We often have to observe someone get acutely, acutely unwell before we can push for action," complains nurse Tracey Keys. The system is so clogged up that some severely ill prisoners reach their release date before a hospital bed is found for them.

  • Clip displays a failure of understanding of mental health issues. Almost all fro until creeping myth mentalis confusio given the illness label. makes easy life for prison governer attach the word illness. Disorder is confusion, prison no place hold those a;ready disorientated and potential be violent.

    Stop compulsive treatment.

  • mentally ill people still know what is wrong but and not help getting in trouble , the country can not afford to give the right care . cat d prisoner costs 28,000 . french prisons much much worse , not even allowed to visit with film crew .

  • Whoa, the guy at 2:30 reads the same book I finished a while ago. I wonder if we share anything else than having read a cheesy space opera by Alan Dean Foster.

  • you have to watch things like depression and signs of severe distress also a persons sleep pattern, however bad sleep for a time is usually a sign of stress which can be experienced by anyone. assess also attention span and even ability to read and appetite, weight loss and previous medication and treatment. an assessment takes time, it cannot be done in a day, you will miss out on important symptoms.

  • How exactly is 'mental health problem' defined. I hate criminals, chavs and yobs. Do I have a mental health problem?
