This video shows how to improve thermal exchange between the Intel HIS (Heat Integrated Spreader) and any kind of heat sink, mirroring the surface, leveling the surface of the spreader, that on intel stock cpu its ridicolously concave, and this is very bad for thermal exchange.
The first step is protect your cpu with electrical tape. Then preparing work desk with abrasive paper, and then many, many patience (and muscle resistance I can say!).
Pay attention to your work plane surface: IT MUST BE PLANAR (a mirror its the best solution under the abrasive paper) or this fix will be worse than the original problem, because the HIS surface could be convex or more planar than before!

  • That's fine for a display case, but not a computer. The only thing between your CPU and heat sink should ideally be a thermal compound of some sort.

  • Sorry.

But the chemicals in that polish can actually corrode your heatsink and CPU surface, leading to less conductivity. I understand you want a mirror shine, but in most cases that shine is a bonus and a result of a gradual grow from low-grit to high-grit (in my case 600, 800, 1000, 1400,1800, and 2200). I'm sorry about my previous harsh comment.
