I am going to test four different types of two different manufacturers' .223 Russian ammo in my POF P-415 upper. I will test the following ammo:

Wolf 55 grain FMJ, Silver Bear

Silver Bear .223 62grn HP

Wolf Military Classic .223 55grn FMJ

Brown Bear .223 55grn FMJ

I plan on firing 40 rounds of each. Much like wine tasting, I want to make sure that my upper has a "clean pallet" for each flavor of ammo. I want to know what steps I can take between firing each type of ammo to insure a "fresh start", and be able to accurately note/judge each type of ammo. What I'm trying to see is which type of ammo will feed reliably in this POF upper. I had several stuck cases using Tula 62 grain HP.

Thanks!

  • Okay, here's my opinion, for what it's worth. I have owned two brands of AR's- Colt & Olympic. I have only shot one brand of Russian ammo through them, Wolf performance.

When I go out to the range, I shoot hundreds, not dozens of rounds. In either of the AR's, I have NEVER, I repeat, never have I experienced any of the problems read about in reviews of Wolf ammo. Most of my rounds are shot during rapid fire drills. Yet, no adverse effects.

Logically, the only conclusion I can come up w

  • @almostwholesale Thanks.

  • Check out box o' truth website for their article on steel cased ammo. Just google 'steel cased ammo' and it'll be the first result. I've used steel cased ammo in my ak for years and will start using it in my 9mm soon and also when I get a 5.56 upper for my ar

  • @tommy35ss Will do. Thanks.

  • i just bought a new ar took it to the range tried tula for the first time and after thirty rounds it failed to extract it was very dirty and cheap ammo would not recomed it

  • @jacob19843 Yeah, that stuff is way underpowered for my AR.

  • I've had the same problem with Tula & wolf. Stuck in the chamber on three AR's a YHM 11.5" , stag with a 16" BCM upper & a CMMG14.5 in all I had the same shit. Out of 1000 rounds of Tula 55gr fmj about 20 got stuck & 2 did not work at all! & 500 of wolf 6 or 7 got stuck if I was in battle I would been dead! About 30 times lol. I put 500 of golden bear 62gr HP & was surprised not one FTE, FTF! O and I used Pmags, GI, HK, & surefire mags. But I do zero all my AR's with M855 or M193.

  • I've shot Wolf Military Classic and Tula through my stock Colt with no problems. (400 rounds total) Both have a polymer coating. I would stay away from the lacquered stuff.

  • I bout 1000 rounds of the wolf about two years ago and just shot the last round of it about 3 weeks ago. At first I had a problem with it cycling guessing since it was such a new weapon, but since it got broken it with hundreds of rounds haven't had a problem ever since. The only think i did run into was the case extractor had actually broke part of the back park of the casing right off. Falty case which made it stick in my barrel and i had to pop it out. Just picked up another 500 from the gun

  • @almostwholesale same here

  • its ppu prvi 5.56 62 grain
