HANSEL & GRETEL outwit the witch. End of ACT III

When the witch demonstrates the oven, Hansel and Gretel push her in and celebrate. Later their parents arrive and are reunited with their children for a happy ending.

WITCH: Follow me now.
I'll show you how
HANSEL & GRETEL TOGETHER:
Now push her once more...prang!
Slam the door...bang!
Sweetytooth deserves her fate
Let's celebrate!
Hurray! Shout it out the witch is dead!
She's in there and she won't survive
Hurray!
No more need to live in dread
We don't care if she burns alive
So farewell to the witch's spell
Gone to hell, she is on her way
Such sweet revenge will bring
Halcyon days, I think
we'll eat up everything
even the kitchen sink!
Hey! We say hurray! Hurray! Hip hurray!

(The Mother and Father find the children)
HANSEL Father! Mother!
GRETEL: Father! Mother!
MOTHER: Here you are!
FATHER: Dear children, how could you have strayed this far?
ALL: Hurray!
FATHER: Children, mark this lesson well
Those who cast a nasty spell
Come to grief, no relief
Roasting in the fires of Hell
ALL: Now the wicked witch is dead
To the flames of Hell she fled
Horrid plight - serves her right!
All that's left is gingerbread!
FATHER: Evil never wins the day,
That is what the angels say,
Bad is punished, good prevails,
That's the moral message in these tales
Yes, do your best and you'll please the Lord,
Virtue is its own reward.
ALL: When life sends you misery
God sends blessings down to thee.

Lohengrin - as someone interested in opera you should know this was Humperdinck's intention and how the opera is always performed. Surely you don't think actual children could sing this difficult music, do you? You've made the same comment as Kramm, but he is only 14. Refer to my comments to him.

and u should know anti-esthetic specticles when u see some... Opera is Theatre... that 14 year old boy was very clever Always listen to what kids have to say, their opinion is honest and clear ;)

the final 10 minutes are posted anywhere at YT ?

There Vienna Boys´Choir is singing. For me that movie is the very best performance of Humperdinck´s work !!! I have a recording of a current TV-broadcasting..

I actually saw a TV production several years ago where two boys (I think they were members of the Regensburger Domspatzen, a German boys choir) sang these parts, and they were great. The strange thing was, Gretel was played by a boy then, too... So that was a "Hosenrolle" the other way round ^^

But what I wanted to say is that at least some children _are_ able to sing these parts. Of course, normally adults are cast, since there aren't that many boys around who have the skills... :)

i like there costumes better then ours, then again this looks spring related ours was winter so we had layers. We have different lyrics though
